Stevenage: 2010-1 Season Details

If you’ve been promoted once, you may as well do it again. In 2010-1, that’s just what Boro’ did after taking to life in the Football League. It was, to be fair, a slow start for us; Graham Westley‘s side sitting in 18th at the halfway stage. It didn’t daunt us, however.

A post-Christmas charge up the charts put us in the promotion frame against all the odds; Boro’ winning six on the spin in March to really boost our chances. A dramatic 3-3 draw at home to Bury on the last day nudged us into the top seven and put League One in sight.

First Accrington, then Torquay; neither could suppress our momentum come the end of the season. At Old Trafford, John Mousinho scored the goal that sent us up yet another level. And that wasn’t even the only memorable story of this particular season!

How could we forget, after all, avenging the 1998 FA Cup ‘defeat’ to Newcastle? With a comfortable 3-1 win over the Premier League side, it was a famous night at the Lamex. The trouble is it was famous in more ways than one
