Who Are... Ebbsfleet United FC?
Defying the BoroGuide predictions for 2006/7, Ebbsfleet United finished the season ten places above where it was thought they might, missing out on the playoffs by a mere four points. An appearance at the new Wembley Stadium in the FA Trophy final was only denied by defeat to Kidderminster Harriers in the semi-final, and all in all it was a fairly successful season for the Kent side, then known as Gravesend & Northfleet.

In 2007/8, it was a case of all-change at the club though. As the Blue Square Premier name replaced Nationwide Conference, so did Ebbsfleet to former name Gravesend & Northfleet. It was a change that couldn't have foresaw what would ultimately be a revolution in football club ownership, as MyFootballClub took control of the club with 35,000 investors. It was a change that seemed to work, however, as the club brushed off competition from champions-elect Aldershot, and Torquay United to lift the FA Trophy for the first time in their history.

Coming into the 2008/9 season with expectations raised a notch higher, the club may find themselves treading water as the competition increases around them. Building on the FA Trophy success would be anticipated in the very least, but with the off-field changes, a chance to take stock and consolidate would be appreciated surely. It is for that reason that BoroGuide reckons on more of the same for the forthcoming campaign but one that could lay foundations for even further success in years to come.
