Bondz N’Gala was among the additions to our squad in summer 2012; manager Gary Smith strengthening his ranks heading into the 2012-3 League One campaign. The defender joined from Yeovil Town; making more than 30 appearances as the Glovers finished 17th in the division. The 2012-3 campaign was a mixed bag for the defender, with a long-term injury to Jon Ashton helping his first team prospects. A loan spell at Barnet helped restore his confidence after some shaky performances, but he left on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Bondz N’Gala: Before Boro’
After starting out at West Ham United, the player found first team opportunities hard to come by. Eventually, he found himself out on loan to gain experience. The first port of call was Weymouth on a season-long loan in 2008; managerial changes bringing an end to his time there after just three games.
There was more Football League experience from more loan spells at MK Dons, Scunthorpe United and Plymouth Argyle; the latter becoming N’Gala’s permanent home in 2010 after being released from his contract. However, cash problems affecting the Devon club contributed towards its relegation in 2011 and his subsequent departure on a free to Yeovil. During his stay at Huish Park, N’Gala made a substitute appearance in the Yeovil team that were thrashed 6-0 by us on their home turf.
