Miguel Luque joined Stevenage Borough in 1990; establishing himself as a key figure in the side that romped the 1990-1 Isthmian League Division 2 North title. Reverting to centre-back for the next season’s Division 1 campaign, Luque’s presence was no less critical; Boro’ again securing the title, along with the Herts Senior Cup.
Despite leaving in the 1992-3 season, Luque returned for the 1993-4 campaign; one that saw Boro’ gain promotion to the Vauxhall Conference. That said, he did spend a brief spell at Bishop’s Stortford on loan too. Luque took charge of the reserve team in 1994-5 and, as the first team were winning the Conference title the following season, Luque’s reserve team won their league and league cup.
His involvement with the club, however, came to an end once the season finished.
Miguel Luque: Before Boro’
For Luque, his career started at Harlow Town; making his way through the youth ranks in the early 1980s. His first team debut came in 1982-3, and he was still on the books there when the Hawks came to play us at the end of the decade. But there was, in between all that, a brief spell with Bishop’s Stortford too.
