Biography

Steve Morison joined Stevenage Borough on the verge of his 23rd birthday from Bishop’s Stortford, where he’d proved excellent at finding the net. Starting out at Northampton Town, Morison also had experience of playing (and scoring) in the Football League. Mark Stimson’s ability to lure the player across Hertfordshire paid dividends in the Goals For column by the end of the 2006-7 season.

It was a fine moment that Moro’ capped his tally for that season with the winning goal in the FA Trophy final at the new Wembley. And he kept firing them in during the 2007-8 campaign too; a feat capturing the attention of League sides during the January 2008 transfer window. Although there were fewer goals in 2007-8 compared with his first season, that can be blamed at Boro’s failure to embark on any form of cup run.

He was transfer-listed as per his request in summer 2008 for a month; just one offer coming in from Crewe and failing to meet our approval. He then penned a new deal at the club that guaranteed his presence for the 2008-9 campaign; the chance there to move on if we didn’t win promotion.

Steve Morison: After Boro’

After another fine campaign in 2009, Moro’ took that step up with a move to Millwall in a six-figure deal. After breaking every net in the Blue Square Premier, he also made the grade in the Championship too. And that would earn him a shot at the Premier League with Norwich City in 2011. After Norwich, there was also a spell at Leeds United before returning to south London. And, in 2019, Shrewsbury Town squeezed one more year out of him before Moro’ hung up his boots.
