Gary Williams made an immediate impression by scoring on his debut in the Letchworth ‘derby’ game; signing in December 1988 from Vauxhall Motors. It was also Boro’ coach Paul Peterson who introduced him to Motors’ first team during his time in charge at the Luton club. After his time with us, however, Williams moved on to Baldock Town.

In summer 1992, Williams earned himself a move to Hitchin Town; breaking into the side and displacing top scorer (and fellow Boro’ alumni) Steve Conroy. It was his late goal for the Canaries that secured the 1992-3 Diadora League Division One title.
