Our competitive battles with Welwyn Garden City have been restricted to cup competitions since we first met them in 1983. One reason for that is the Citizens’ long-time membership of the (Spartan) South Midlands League. That’s now changed, however, with the club part of the Southern League as of the 2019-20 campaign.
In terms of our head-to-head, we do hold the upper hand; a 3-1 defeat in our first-ever meeting still the only time we’ve been on the wrong side of the scoreline. We’d very much like to keep things that way as much as we can. Even if we’re limited to friendly clashes for the foreseeable future. It all counts.
