After earning his stripes (literally) with the reserves, defender Lawrence Honey stepped up to the first team in October 1985. It didn’t take him long to nail down a regular starting spot in our back line either. Such was his rise to prominence, Honey picked up the club’s award for the most improved player at the end of the 1985-6 season. At the end of our disastrous 1987-8 campaign, however, his time with the club came to an end.
