Lee Bozier was first recruited on loan from St Albans towards the end of the 1988-9 campaign and put in a string of impressive showings for Stevenage Borough; so much so that he was never on a losing side when playing for the Boro’. It came as little surprise the management wanted to wrap up a permanent deal for the stopper; Brian Williams approaching St Albans to see if a deal could be done. Prohibitive terms, however, meant it couldn’t.
Things would change, however, after Peter Lawrence took charge at Clarence Park. The ex-Hitchin boss let the ex-Herts county youth keeper move to Boro’ in a permanent switch and take up his place between the sticks. The time came for him to move on at the end of the 1989-90 campaign with the departure of the manager who’d brought him to us in the first place.
