Biography

A deadline day signing in April 2002, Wayne Turner moved to bring Stuart Fraser into a squad faced ravaged with injury and inconsistency worries. The player slotted in at left-back role for the rest of the season after coming in from Luton Town. His temperament was something of a stress point, but it curbed visibly during his spell at Broadhall Way. And that saw the Scotsman rewarded with the armband against Luton Town in an LDV Trophy match in the absence of regular captain Jason Goodliffe.

While left-back was the number one spot for Fraser, he could cover in centre midfield too; filling in during an injury crisis in that position. He won Under 21 caps for Scotland and, at just 22, had plenty of time on his side to become a permanent fixture in our line-up. Like a good few others, however, he struggled in a side that crashed to the bottom of the league under Wayne Turner and was soon ousted by Graham Westley’s arrivals.

Stuart Fraser: After Boro’

Life after Boro’ started with a return to his native Scotland for the defender. First, he took up the challenge at Scottish Junior League side Arniston Rangers, before rocking up at Berwick Rangers in 2006. In 2009, Fraser moved onto Musselburgh Athletic. It’s here our trail runs cold, however.
