Commonly known as Peter during his time at Stevenage Borough, Efetobore Sodje signed for the club following trials with both Wimbledon and Luton Town. The player was initially blooded in the reserve team until his international clearance was received.

Sodje left Stevenage for Macclesfield Town in 1997 after the Silkmen gained promotion to the Football League somewhat at the expense of Boro'. It provided the defender with the opportunity to play at a higher level and it was a chance that Sodje was prepared to not just take, but relish.

Firmly established as a Football League player, the defender started to receive international recognition with the Nigerian national team and was included in their squad for the 2000 African Cup of Nations and the 2002 World Cup.

Sodje was known and indeed regarded at Boro' for his powerful headers and running the length of the pitch with the ball only to lose it, get back to defence, win the ball back and set up another attack.
