Biography

One of the seven players that came with Graham Westley from Farnborough in 2003, Steve Watson got the captain’s armband here almost immediately. It was a decision that did not go down well with us. Maybe it was the reason he didn’t seem too popular during his time with us. And maybe it was because he seemed to spend more time picking up bookings than doing much else of note.

After just one full season with us, Watson left the club in summer 2004. It was a little bit of a surprise, to be fair. He’d come in with GW and it felt clear that he’d be one of the gaffer’s main men in the middle. He made a slow start to life at Boro’, but came into his own as he got settled; ending the season on a more consistent note.

Much of his play was frustrating, however; often seen as undisciplined too. Aldershot Town and AFC Wimbledon were next on the player’s career path. What more else do you want us to say?
