Biography

Robert Duffy arrived in 2006 to strengthen boss Graham Westley’s striking options, but found himself unable to break into the first team. A handful of games were spent sat on the bench in the vain hope of seeing some action. He finally made his debut in the last game of the 2005-6 season. But it was to little effect.

Given his failure to appear at a time when Boro’ needed goals to try and force entry into the playoff berth, it seemed inevitable he would move on. That, and because Jefferson Louis was preferred at the time. That he did, to Oxford United and his luck took a turn for the better.

Robert Duffy: Before Boro’

Duffy arrived at the club having played a few times at both Gainsborough Trinity and Kettering Town. A spell at Cambridge United followed a loan stint with Stamford, where he scored twice in two games. But Duffy found himself unable to replicate his scoring form.

Robert Duffy: After Boro’

After a decent couple of years at the Kassam Stadium, the Swansea-born striker fell out of favour and moved to Wrexham on loan. Newport County in his native Wales was the next port of call, before a couple of years at Mansfield Town restored his scoring prowess.
