With leading goalscorer Anthony Elding leaving Broadhall Way in late 2005, Boro’ were fast to act in securing the services of Jefferson Louis on non-contract terms. The striker came with a slightly unfavourable reputation from fans of previous clubs he’d played for, however. He won our fans over right away with a scoring debut at Grays Athletic. As the season wore on, performances started to wane, however. And, despite scoring six goals in 12 starts, there were still doubts over his commitment to the cause.
Jefferson Louis: After Boro’
Presumably having earned a deal towards the end of the 2005-6 season, Louis departed shortly after the season’s conclusion; his contract not being renewed by the club. Since then (and arguably before, to be fair), sticking at one club hasn’t really been Louis’ thing. As of summer 2020, he’d been on the books at 40 different clubs; Beaconsfield Town the latest to sign him. That’s not unlike the number of years that Boro’ have existed.
And how’s this for a fact? In 2008, he was on the books for both sides who went down from League Two; Mansfield Town at the back end of the 2007-8 season, then Wrexham, who he joined in June that year.
