Left back Jerome Okimo got a chance to make a name for himself in the Football League in 2014 after Graham Westley signed him from Wealdstone. Okimo helped the Stones to the Ryman League Premier Division title in 2013-4. And, like Tom Pett, he got his reward for his role in that campaign with a Boro’ deal. He has also played for Chalfont St Peter.
Okimo was a consistent performer for Boro’, but never seemed assured of the starting berth at left back. With other lads such as Fraser Franks often preferred, the decision to release him in summer 2016 was unfortunate but not exactly a huge surprise. Okimo left us with his head held high, however. Or at least he should’ve done. Not only did he score a goal from his own half, he also had one of the best player songs of recent times.
Jerome Okimo: After Boro’
After us, it was back to where it all started for the player; signing for Wealdstone once again – but only after he’d been to Braintree Town for a stint lasting just the one season.
