Bonjour, Alan Paris – the right back who arrived at Boro’ towards the end of our 1995-6 Conference campaign, doing his bit as we claimed the title. He came to us from Slough Town, a club for whom he’d lined up against us earlier that term. The Rebels is actually where Paris started his career in the 1980s; moving into the Football League with clubs such as Watford, Peterborough United and Leicester City.
In total, he made more than 300 appearances in the Football League (according to our 1995 matchday programme). But he didn’t come close to that amount with us, however. After sticking with us over the summer, Paris left us midway through the 1996-7 season; turning out next for Hendon. He also played for Harrow Borough and Boreham Wood as he wound down a long and successful career in non-league circles.
