Biography

Wayne Turner brought in Richard Scott, a former Peterborough utility player, on a short-term deal, to provide cover for Matt Fisher and Sam McMahon. Boro’ had run into quite the injury crisis in early November 2002, which saw the manager draft the midfielder in from Telford on non-contract terms. With his Football League experience from spells at Birmingham City and Shrewsbury Town, his addition was valuable.

In December 2002, however, Scott was back at Peterborough to see the season out; the Posh also needing some patching up at the time. Before leaving us, Scott left us with the memory of his stunning free kick in the 4-3 home defeat against Luton in the LDV Trophy. But he’d be back. Turner had long gone, but new boss Graham Westley saw Scott as the answer to another injury crisis in January 2004.

As Peterborough had only used Scott once during the 2003-4 season (for nine minutes in an FA Cup game against Hereford), the midfielder came to our aid. After his time with us, he’d go onto have spells with Cambridge City, Moor Green and Corby Town among others.
