Season Summary
For the first time in a number of seasons, 2006-7 saw a changing of the guard at Stevenage Borough as Mark Stimson came in as manager. In doing so, there was a new playing style; one that was slow to deliver results but soon paid dividends. A significant part of that was the goalscoring form of new signing Steve Morison; the former Bishop’s Stortford striker going to score a mere 34 times over the course of the season.
Not only that, but silverware was inbound too!
In the FA Cup, there was disappointment as Boro’ lost to Wrexham in the first round. The eyes of the gaffer, however, were on another prize; a third straight FA Trophy success. Well, for him; Stimmo winning the pot in the previous two years with Grays. He duly delivered at Boro’ too. We became the first team to win a competitive final at the ‘new’ Wembley Stadium. And it was a match befitting the occasion; coming from two goals down at half-time to win in dramatic style against Kidderminster.
More importantly, were the foundations of an exciting team taking shape?
