Seny Dieng

Date of Birth: 23-11-1994

Place of Birth: Zurich (SUI)

Just in the nick of time before the start of the 2018-9 season, Boro’ secured themselves a number two goalkeeper with the loan signing of Seny Dieng. The QPR stopper arrived on a deal that would keep him with us until January 2019, providing cover for Paul Farman in the net. He made his mark while at the club; eventually ousting Farman for a time between the sticks and getting a better rep for himself at his parent club.

Seny Dieng: Before Boro’

Dieng had joined QPR’s EDS ranks in 2017; completing a successful trial at Loftus Road. Prior to that, the Swiss-born player of Senegalese decent had been at MSV Duisberg in Germany, having left his native Switzerland in 2016.

He made his professional debut at the age of 17 in November 2012, turning out for Swiss side FC Grechen. He was there on loan at the time; his parent club being Grasshoppers. While at the Zurich club, he was named as sub keeper for a Champions League tie and turned out for their B side too.

Seny Dieng: After Boro’

It was unlikely that Dieng would come back to us – even on loan. Such was his growing reputation, he left us and went north of the border soon after for a short stay at Dundee. Into the 2019-20 season, and the experience kept coming for the stopper too; again out on loan, this time with Doncaster Rovers.
