One of the first names to join Stevenage Borough in the January 2008 transfer window was Chester City centre-back Ashley Westwood. A highly-experienced player, he joined us to add strength at the back; boosting our promotion hopes at the same time. But a series of inconsistent performances (individually and as a team) saw us fail to make the playoffs that season. After new boss Graham Westley came in, Westwood found himself on the transfer list. He left Broadhall Way by mutual consent in July 2008.
