A deadline day signing by Wayne Turner during the 2001-2 campaign, Richard Howell came into the ranks to provide much-needed strength in depth. And that was despite a relative lack of experience and fairly young age. Still, he soon started playing a greater role in our first team. There was obvious talent and plenty of promise there; soon there were goals to add to that. But, after Wayne Turner left, he became one of those players with little space under new boss Graham Westley.
As such, the player moved on to find pastures new. That decision certainly betrayed the desire to see Howell fulfil his potential with us. But the steps he’d take would be down – firstly with Bishop’s Stortford. He also spent time at AFC Sudbury in-between two spells with neighbours Hitchin Town. But we don’t have much more to tell you about a player yours truly was proud to sponsor during his time at Broadhall Way.
