Gary Wraight signed for us in 1999; Richard Hill bringing the midfielder in from Wycombe Wanderers to strengthen his squad. It wasn’t an easy time for the player to come in. Our form that had seen us win the first six of the season had deserted us. So, Wraight signed at a time when Hill was frantically looking to halt a slide down the table.
It ultimately cost him the hotseat later that season.
By the time the 2000-1 season started, Wraight was still in favour with Paul Fairclough – back in charge at Broadhall Way. Yet, it didn’t last. In November 2000, the midfielder had found that first team opportunities were fading fast. To secure first team action once more, we agreed a £4,000 deal with St Albans City and Wraight was on his way to his next club.
