David McAllister was the tenacious midfielder drafted in by manager Graham Westley on loan in October 2014 for an initial one-month term - one that was later extended to take him into the New Year.

After joining up with the Boro' ranks, McAllister slotted into the midfield almost immediately and became one of the first names on the team sheets as his loan spell went on, and having found opportunities at Shrewsbury Town limited.

Prior to moving to the New Meadow, McAllister started his career across the Irish Sea, most recently with St Patrick's Athletic before English football - and, more specifically, Sheffield United - beckoned.

Shortly after his return to the Shrews, he was allowed to leave on a free transfer and duly returned to Boro' in a permanent move in mid-January 2015.

McAllister found himself more familiar with the physio room than the Lamex pitch, however. Despite his best efforts to get back into the fold, it just wouldn't happen and he spent much of the 2015-6 campaign absent on the sidelines. In summer 2016, he was released by the club with fans perhaps feeling that injury luck had conspired against him during his spell with the club.
