A former Norwich City youngster, forward Adam Marriott was snapped up by Graham Westley in summer 2014 after taking the Southern League by storm in 2013-4; scoring more than 40 goals scored for Cambridge City. And that’s a bit of alright, really. His keen eye for goal and prolific record helped propel City into the Premier Division playoffs. It was little surprise, therefore, that a League club was in the hunt. Thankfully, that league side was us – and he promptly signed.
The 2014-5 season gave Marriott a chance to cut his teeth in the League for the first time. Not only that, but to make a name for himself at a higher level too. No doubt, it was giving Boro’ fans at the time cause to hope they’d found the next Steve Morison or Barry Hayles. Injuries wreaked havoc with the striker’s time at the Lamex, however. It often kept Marriott out for large spells at a time, which was a source of immense frustration; not least for the player himself.
In summer 2016, his time with Boro’ came to an end after his contract was up; moving on to Lincoln City and then Royston Town.
