Jordan Slew Player Profile
Debut: Exeter City (A, 1-1), 03/03/2012
Highly-rated England U19 international Jordan Slew joined Stevenage in March 2012 on a loan deal from Blackburn Rovers. The striker had signed for the Premier League side at the end of the summer 2011 in a £1m move from Sheffield United, where he first made his name.
Boro’ boss Gary Smith moved to secure Slew’s services at a time when goals had been hard to come by and the signature provided the Hertfordshire club with some more firepower. With Boro’ chasing a place in the League One playoffs, it was a crucial time for the club.
Slew made his professional debut in October 2010 and made more than 10 appearances for the Blades, scoring three times, before his move to Blackburn Rovers. And his Premier League debut was to come on the largest stage possible – as a substitute at Old Trafford as Rovers sprung a surprise win at Manchester United.
