A central midfielder with a fair amount of Football League experience, Ben Worrall signed for Boro’ in the early part of the 2000-1 season. Quite what Paul Fairclough hoped to see come of the deal is still up for debate; Worrall’s stay with us lasting just long enough to fit in a 90-minute outing against Leigh RMI. According to the next matchday programme, he joined on non-contract terms with a view to a permanent. But it didn’t happen.
Ben Worrall: Before Boro’
Worrall’s most recent club before signing for us was Exeter City. There, he’d featured just a handful of times during the 1999-00 season due to injury. His time in the south west had come after a long spell on the North Yorkshire coast with Scarborough. But it all started for the midfielder at Swindon Town under the management of Steve McMahon; his hometown club handing him a senior debut at the end of the 1994-5 Division One season.
