Beer lovers rejoice – because Stevenage FC is happy to announce that we’ll be hosting our first-ever beer festival, in partnership with local brewery Bog Brew. The free festival will take place at the Lamex Stadium in the South Stand car park right next to the Broadhall Suite; running from 12 noon until 7 pm on Easter Monday, 22 April.
Introducing Stevenage Football Club’s first very own signature beer
According to Stevenage-based brewery Bog Brew, the beer festival will feature 11 locally-brewed beers, ciders and ales. Fans will also be able to try out the new ‘Boro’ Brew’. It’s a light ale made in partnership with Stevenage FC. It’ll be the club’s first-ever signature beer too; a delicious golden ale brewed at the On the Green restaurant in the heart of the Old Town.
The club decided to team up with Bog Brew in response to feedback from supporters who wanted a better ale selection on match day. Fans were undoubtedly delighted with the club announcing last month that their very first locally-brewed beer would be available from the Broadhall Suite and other hospitality areas at home games. The festival is the perfect place for the club to showcase their new signature beer.
And we’ll no doubt see many fans enjoying it on matchday in support of their team and local economy.
Admission to the festival is completely free of charge. It’ll also feature several live music acts between 1pm and 3pm. The club is hoping visitors will stay for the big fixture on Easter Monday against Exeter City; the match kicking off at 3pm.
While entry to the festival is free, tickets for Stevenage vs Exeter can be found on www.borotickets.com from £15 for adults and £5 for younger fans.
Boro’ will also be trialling a brand-new bar on the same day. The new bar will be in the East Terrace; the club is hoping it’ll become a permanent feature on matchdays next season.

New system pleases Boro’ boss Dino Maamria after dominant 3-0 win over Carlisle
It was a great result for us last weekend. Carlisle United’s hopes for the playoffs were dealt a devastating blow after a crushing 3-0 defeat. After a pass from Kurtis Guthrie, midfielder Arthur Lontton opened the scoring only 16 minutes; driving home a fantastic team goal, and making this the 18-year-old’s first goal of his professional career. Then, Guthrie’s double in the second half secured the club’s victory over Carlisle. It was a fabulous display at the Lamex Stadium; arguably Boro’s best performance of the season so far; dominating Steven Pressley’s Cumbrians from start to finish.
Boss Dino Maamria is happy to see his new system still producing results. Boro’s game against Grimsby the previous weekend saw Maamria switch to three at the back and his side win 2-0. Deciding to stick with the new system against Carlisle, Maamria drafted Arthur Iontton for Joel Byrom and Emmanuel Sonupe for the injured Moses Makasi. The result makes for two back-to-back wins for Stevenage; Maamria hoping the new system continues to pay off.
In his first year as manager, Maamria is proving himself to not be another Teddy Sheringham. Despite having one of the most illustrious careers in football history – and becoming a notable figure on the poker circuit in the years after his retirement – Teddy saw his first foray into management end after a brief eight months.
First-ever Stevenage goal delights teenage starlet Arthur Iontton
Iontton’s first goal for Stevenage came only a few days after he was awarded the Apprentice of the Year gong at the EFL awards in London. It means it’s two consecutive years that a player from Stevenage has won the award; Ben Wilmot collecting it last year. The young midfielder has enjoyed a breakthrough season; making himself a mainstay of the first team. No doubt we’ll see this young talent continue to rise through the ranks in league.
