Anthony Thomas signed for Stevenage Borough in May 2008, after former club Barnet decided not to extend his contract for another year. He signed for the Bees the previous year; an impressive return of 40 goals in a season for Hemel Hempstead Town catching their attention. But he didn’t make the grade in the Football League. Instead, he took the step down to take a fresh chance to prove his credentials. The aim? To benefit Boro’ as we pushed for promotion.
With competition for our attacking roles made fiercer by us keeping Steve Morison, the onus was on Thomas to prove he could cut it. He found chances limited, however. He ended up leaving the club after a matter of months to step back down the leagues. First he returned to Hemel. Then he spent time at Farnborough; going out on a number of loan deals during his time at Cherrywood Road. Later clubs include Maidenhead United and Ware.
