Stevenage snapped up young shot-stopper Ben Jackson from Premier League side Liverpool in summer 2015, where he’d played for the Under 18 side at UEFA Youth League level among others. Jackson was added to Boro’s own youth squad as he looked to develop his career in League Two.
Any first team opportunities, however, were at a minimum to begin with thanks to a spate of loan arrivals at the Lamex. An injury to Jesse Joronen, followed by the ending of that loan deal in January 2016, created a space on Boro’s bench and led to Jackson provide back up to Chris Day in the second half of the 2015-6 campaign.
