After a number of impressive pre-season appearances leading the attack in 2007, boss Mark Stimson signed Ollie Allen on a permanent deal. His successful trial included scoring a goal against Tottenham Hotspur, which almost brings us full circle right away; Ollie being the son of Spurs legend Clive Allen. Injury limited his progress during the 2007-8 season, however. After few chances to shine, Allen took the unfortunate decision to retire.
He did later appear at Crawley Town in a bid to kick-start his career once more, as well as two other clubs after. But it was to no avail and he stepped away from the game for good – as far as we still know.
