A former Boro’ goalkeeper, David Tilley took his place between the sticks against Irthlingborough Diamonds on the first day of the 1982-3 season. His game, however, was to be curtailed by a broken leg shortly before the half-time interval.

The injury was to keep Tilley out for the entire season; ultimately bringing the curtain down on his career at the club. After moving on, Tilley turned out for Ibrox in the North Herts League.
