Our ability to score goals was proving to be a struggle in the 2025-26 season; something we hoped Harry Cornick could help with. The striker came in on loan during the January 2026 window, which was about time. Boro’ had hit a run of bad form that threatened to upset an otherwise promising campaign. The loan deal bringing him to Broadhall Way took him to the end of the season at the time. Bristol City were clearly ready to make do without for the rest of their Championship endeavours that season. And that was beneficial to our situation.
Cornick is not a player whose record you’d doubt. He came with an abundance of Football League experience, including promotions and plenty of goals scored along the way. As is often the case, finding a proven goalscorer in the middle of a season is never easy. But the arrival of Cornick was a hand we played well in the circumstances. It was something to tide us over for the remainder. of the 2025-26 season. One question that did spring to mind was how he’d fit in with a system that had –to that point – leaned on a single striker. Mind you, maybe our poor form would change that thinking.
Harry Cornick: Before Boro’
Much of Cornick’s immediate reputation owed much to his exploits at Luton Town. The forward was a focal point of their attack for much of his six years at Kenilworth Road. While he was there, he was part of a side that gained promotion from League Two to League One. He wasn’t on target, however, in their 7-1 win over us that particular season. Prior to his time with the Hatters, the forward had been on loan at five different sides during a period on the books at AFC Bournemouth – including two spells at Yeovil Town. Bristol City, meanwhile, signed him in January 2023 from Luton.
