Ken Aboh made it into the fold just before the summer 2024 transfer window shut; joining us on loan from Norwich City. At the time, we’d gone into a new League One campaign without two senior forwards – including top marksman from the 2023-4 season, Jamie Reid. Goals hadn’t been easy to come by in our initial three league games of the new League One campaign, so the management took action. Aboh arrived on deadline day; a highly-regarded young striker who had been a regular in the Canaries’ development squads for several seasons.
The arrival of Aboh wasn’t exactly a silver bullet, however. Indeed, the player found game time hard to come by for the duration of his stay with us. In what was probably about 30 games across all competitions come the start of the brand new calendar year, the Canaries marksman earned himself a mere seven appearances; one as a starter and six coming off the bench. With limited opportunities, it was no surprise – though disappointing all the same – that Aboh ended up returning to Carrow Road at the start of 2025.
Ken Aboh: Before Boro’
Aboh made his first team debut for the Canaries during the 2023-4 season; having signed his first professional contract at Carrow Road in 2022. The good news for Boro’ at the time, certainly, were his school reports coming out from Norfolk. Indeed, many people held Aboh in high regard and believed his time had come for senior action. It was, admittedly, not a part of his career up until that point. But a scoring record of 36 in 77 for the Canaries’ youth teams suggested he had the attributes. And Boro’ would provide the stage for him to showcase that at a higher level.
