Now you see him, now you don’t; Steve Wignall’s time as Boro’ manager won’t be setting any records given the short amount of time spent together. By replacing Richard Hill with Mr Wignall, it looked as if we’d got ourselves an experienced pro who had previously led Colchester United to promotion.
Boro’ was his next gig after leaving Layer Road; his belief was that he’d taken the Essex side as far as he could. We doubt he’d be saying the same thing about his time with us, however. Eight games into his tenure, Wignall was heading for Doncaster Rovers; moving on freely after (apparently) not signing a binding contract with us.
It’s not for us to say how true that may be, but it his swift departure means we have little else to add on Mr Wignall.
