John Bailey Manager Profile
John Bailey was named Stevenage Borough manager on 22 October 1987; a permanent replacement for Frank Cornwell, who’d left the role the month before. In spite of his efforts, however, we continued to find life in Vauxhall Opel League Division One a struggle. With a poor run of form putting us on course for relegation, Bailey’s time at Boro’ came to an end in summer 1988; Brian Williams the new gaffer charged with leading the rebuild ahead of the 1988-9 Vauxhall Opel League Division Two North campaign.
