Biography

“He is a long-admired target of mine” – Graham Westley finally got his man in April 2004 by securing the signature of forward Brian Quailey. GW continued in his optimistic review of his new striker; “pace and power being his outstanding characteristics”. It seemed that goals, however, were not his forte. Two in 13 outings for us isn’t the worst return you’ll be able to find in the Boro’ history books. But it wasn’t quite what we needed.

Brian Quailey: Before Boro’

Starting at Nuneaton Borough, the forward moved to West Brom in 1997. For three years, he stayed with the Baggies; first team opportunities at a severe premium, however. Come the turn of the century, he’d spent time on loan at Exeter and Blackpool. But it was time to find a new home and that’d be Scunthorpe United. After two seasons, a new deal was put his way in April 2002. Two months later, however, the club released him.

A trial at Rushden & Diamonds didn’t work out, but Doncaster Rovers picked him up on a free in summer 2002. Over the next couple of seasons, Quailey also turned out at Halifax Town, Nuneaton Borough (again) and Tamworth. It was from the Lambs that the forward came to us; having failed to score during his time with the club.

Brian Quailey: After Boro’

All roads seem to lead to Nuneaton in this story; Quailey spending some time on loan at his former club during the 2004-5 campaign – before leaving us for good in March 2005. After another spell with his first-ever club, Stafford Rangers came in for him in the 2006 close season. But, another couple of more years down the line, he’d be on his way back across the Midlands to Nuneaton. And that’s where the trail ends for us.
