With more firepower needed to get us off the foot of the League Two table, boss Graham Westley turned to David Parkhouse on loan in January 2020. The striker came to us from Sheffield United until the end of the 2019-20 campaign; the not-too-grand aim of keeping us in the Football League behind GW’s move. And you can maybe see why the manager opted for Parkhouse. If reports are to be believed, the likes of Everton and Celtic started circling after the lad turned down a new deal with the Blades.
So, we got ourselves a striker looking to show the very best of himself with a move away from Bramall Lane seemingly on the cards. And who doesn’t like a bit of mutual benefit?
David Parkhouse: Before Boro’
Before his time with us, Parkhouse had most recently returned to his native County Derry on loan. Turning out for Derry City of the League of Ireland, the striker netted 19 times in 39 appearances. That’s all you can really ask of a man with the job of scoring goals, right? He’d also spent a short time at Boston United too; a one-month youth loan deal in October 2018 offering a first taste of senior football.
