Left-back Fred Murray joined Stevenage Borough in January 2008 after moving from fellow Blue Square Premier side, Stafford Rangers. After starting out with Blackburn Rovers, the defender had spells at Cambridge United and Northampton Town. In and out our first team during the second half of the 2007-8 campaign, however, it was never really conducive to consistent performances. Injuries also became a problem for the left-back.

It was perhaps unfortunate, but – at the end of the 2007-8 season – Murray left on a free.
