One of a number of promising young players to come through the ranks, Adam Furness never quite made the grade in the eyes of senior management. He didn’t get that many chances to shine, which makes it no surprise that he couldn’t prove them wrong. So, he found himself playing for the ressies more often than not. He made just one appearance off the bench for the first team, before heading out on loan.
He spent time at a number of clubs on loan, but eventually secured a permanent switch to Arlesey Town. Since then, the path seems to have been down the non-league ladder. It’s a bit of a shame in our opinion. We’d felt that he had a great idea of where the goal was and could be a bright hope for us in attack. But there’s a reason we’re not in football scouting – and maybe we got it wrong about Furness.
