Young stopper James Hasell looked to have a bright future ahead of him with Boro’ – but his time here came to a confusing end. In February 2000, boss Paul Fairclough revealed in a match programme that Hasell was out on loan at Harlow Town. And that’s what we’d thought too. Wayne Turner, however, said otherwise after taking charge; suggesting that we’d cancelled the young goalkeeper’s contract. Instead of being on loan with the Hawks, he was there permanently after leaving us as a free agent.
