Biography

The honour of being our first summer signing in 2026 was to be bestowed upon forward Olly Sanderson when we officially confirmed his signature. At the time, Sanderson was a spritely 22-year-old and the permanent deal ended a 14-year stay at Fulham; the striker joining the west London side aged nine. With a lot of his senior career still ahead of him, Boro’ saw the chance to snap up a player with the potential to do some good stuff – starting at League One level.

Sanderson came to us on a two-year deal to start with. Boro’ hadn’t exactly set the world alight in front of goal during a run into the 2025-26 League One playoffs. With the prospect of an even tougher league in store going into 2026-27, Sanderson would come in with the hope he could provide a spark in the final third. And his record on loan at Woking during that 2025-26 campaign (19 goals in 41 appearances) gave some cause for optimism. Even if it was in the National League.

Olly Sanderson: Before Boro’

In spite of his long career at Craven Cottage, first team opportunities were never really on the horizon at Fulham. Instead, it was – naturally – out on loan where Sanderson would find his feet. At first, he found success at Oxford City across two stays. Then came a spell at Sutton United. And then came arguably the first big break; a loan switch to Bradford City for the 2024-25 season.

Things went a bit south for the player while at Valley Parade; something manager Graham Alexander was willing to take the blame for. His time with the Bantams was therefore cut short, which left Sanderson looking for somewhere else to gain what experience he could. The opportunity arose to join Harorga
