We took the financial plunge in January 2026 with the capture of young midfielder Joe Knight for an “undisclosed six-figure fee“. The player had come through the ranks at previous club Brighton & Hove Albion; featuring in the academy at the Amex, before eventually turning professional. For Boro’, such a flex with the money was a statement of intent as it’s not often we part with that level of dough. By doing so, we’d secured the services of a rated prospect. And it was a move that was met with a gracious response from most Seagulls fans too.
Joe Knight: Before Boro’
All Knight knew before moving to Hertfordshire was life on the south coast. He joined the Seagulls as part of their U12 team; moving through the age categories and eventually into the first team. In fact, he made his Premier League debut in November 2025 and the signs were that he had a promising future ahead of him. That it wouldn’t be at the club that brought him through is neither here nor there. Boro’ clearly saw the talent in this midfielder; enough to find the money and the power to convince the Seagulls to part with his services going into 2026.
