Timmy Smith signed his first professional deal with Boro’ in April 2021; the young stopper impressing as one of our youth players. In fact, Smith became the first graduate of Boro’s Education and Development Programme. In a milestone for both club and player, it felt as if there was plenty to be excited about with this lad. After all, we don’t had pro deals out to all our youth teamers. So, this was something surely to shout about?
Smith was one of three players from our academy to sign contracts at the same time. And, from what academy boss Robbie O’Keefe had to say, the next stage of his development at the Lamex was eagerly anticipated. O’Keefe said: “Timmy Smith… came in and trained every day with the Scholars and then had an opportunity to train with the First Team. He’s now a 6’3″ goalkeeper, brave as a lion and has taken the opportunity that presented itself.”
Timmy Smith: After Boro’
After failing to secure a new deal at the Lamex, Smith would link up once again with Robbie O’Keefe. The former Boro’ coach snapped up the stopper; taking him to Biggleswade Town in July 2022 alongside Boro’ alumni Harry Draper.
