Biography

Young striker Joe White was the last man in at Boro’ before the January 2018 transfer window came to its end. The 19-year-old signed from National League (that’s the Conference in old money) side Dagenham & Redbridge for an undisclosed fee. And, as ever, the fact that Boro’ put down the cash for him suggests a definite keenness to secure his services.

To advance his development, White went to Biggleswade Town on loan in late 2018. And he made an instant impact there too. Banging in the goals for fun, White came back at the end of the 2018-9 campaign – hopefully ready to prove his worth in the Football League. But more loan time away from the club put those hopes on ice. And, in January 2020, he moved to Hendon on a permanent deal to end a Boro’ career that never got a chance to flourish.

Joe White: Before Boro’

White had made his way through the Daggers’ ranks, turning professional in December 2016. It was in the previous month that he’d made his first team debut for the East London side too. Being at a relatively young age, first team experience had to be gained somewhere. The Daggers thought Wealdstone, therefore, would be the best place to gain that. And out on loan he went in February 2017.

After returning to the Daggers at the end of the 2016-7 campaign, White was in the mix at the start of the 2017-8 season. He featured three times, including his full debut in which he also found the back of the net. Another loan spell was forthcoming, however; this time at Bostick Premier Division side Hendon. There, he’d score six times in six appearances before his stay was cut short. Why? Because Boro’ gaffer Darren Sarll came calling…
