Biography

Jamar Loza was the young Jamaican forward who signed on the dotted line for us in October 2015, albeit on a one-month loan from Norwich City. Boro’ were finding goals hard to come by in League Two and Loza was the man that Teddy Sheringham saw as the man to sort that out for us.

The forward was part of the Canaries’ youth team that beat Chelsea in the final of the 2012-3 FA Youth Cup. And you got to admit that was no mean feat. But his first team chances at Carrow Road weren’t exactly in abundance. There was a debut as a sub against Arsenal, but precious few other opportunities to speak of.

Jamar Loza: Before Boro’

It was no shock that most of Loza’s senior experience came away from Norwich; loan spells at Coventry, Leyton Orient, Southend United and Yeovil Town giving him a chance to try life in the Football League and see what a striker needs to do at this level. But none of them offered much game time and goals weren’t free-flowing. And it was the same with us. After just one appearance in our colours, Loza was on the way back to Norwich.

In June 2016, Norwich let Loza go and he made the move into non-league. He spent three years on the books at Maidstone, which included a loan spell at Woking. There was also a short spell at Billericay Town in 2019, before moving across Essex to Chelmsford. Not for the first time, Woking came in to secure Loza’s services on loan. If the Cards were a fan of his, you’d think they’d just buy him – right?
