Biography

To bring width to the Boro’ midfield in September 2015, boss Teddy Sheringham raided old club Spurs to sign Kenneth McEvoy on loan for a month. The Irishman had been snapped up by the Premier League side in 2011 as an academy player. But he had to wait for three years until he got a taste of senior football. It ain’t a problem so much, but shows that we’d picked up a lad who was still a bit raw.

Peterborough United and Colchester United both gave the young winger an early chance to show what he could do. And both spells (loans, of course) were successful enough. So, next up was a stop at the Lamex in 2015. No doubt McEvoy’s aim was to move his career forward. Our aim was that we got something a bit different going forward. But his time with us was only a month and he made one solitary appearance.

Spurs let him move onto York City at the start of 2016 after a three-month loan spell with the Minstermen. But he wasn’t there long; released at the end of the 2015-6 season. The next stop was South Normanton Athletic. He did return to his native Ireland for a stint with Waterford for a time, but full-time job commitments saw him return to The Shiners in 2017.
