Not one, but two; Boro’ adding two Wycombe Wanderers lads to the ranks during the 2025 close season – one of them being Jasper Pattenden. Unlike the other of that pair, Beryly Lubara, we didn’t have the luxury of securing Pattenden for free. No – we had to part with some wonga to get the services of the defender onto our books. Not that you should think that a problem. You can only start to assume at that point he’s worth the bother. As the 2025-26 campaign evolved, that turned out to be proven correct.
Pattenden, of course, had competition for game time in his maiden season at Broadhall Way. Luther on the right, Saxon and Dan Butler on the left. Injuries and whatnot would leave the door ajar for him throughout the course of the season – and the chance(s) that fell his way would be taken. Indeed, we’d go as far to say that Pattenden was our break-out star of the campaign. There were some notable performances on our journey to the League One playoffs. And it just added some more weight to the promise we initially saw in him.
Jasper Pattenden: Before Boro’
For Pattenden, footballing life started at Brighton & Hove Albion. Makes sense, to be fair. He is a native of Worthing and the two places aren’t far apart. Mind you, it would actually be his hometown club where things really kicked into gear. And his stellar start to life as a senior player there saw Wycombe come calling in 2022.
