Biography

Quick young striker Kaylen Hinds was among the new additions to the Boro’ squad; arriving on the final day of the January 2017 transfer window. The electric young striker was signed on loan by manager Darren Sarll for the remainder of the 2016-7 League Two campaign. And the player certainly came to the Lamex in high regard.

The striker – an England U18 international – was becoming a key member of the Arsenal U21 squad. A fast and skilful forward by trade, Hinds could also operate out wide. But it’s putting it mildly to say that we didn’t see the best of him. In fact, the loan spell was a bit of a damp squib and he went back to Arsenal. Our world had not been set alight by the talent that Hinds came to us with.

Hinds captured the attention of the national press in 2013 as a 15-year-old playing for Arsenal’s U19 side. The Daily Mail (for it is they) said he was the Gunners’ “latest prodigy” in September 2013. And that progress was continuing by the time Boro’ came calling.

Even though he didn’t make his mark on League Two, it didn’t stop Wolfsburg coming in for him. From nowhere, a move to the Bundesliga came about. Mind you, his time there wasn’t without issue. Actually, that’s an understatement. After a one-week absence that hadn’t been cleared, Wolfsburg terminated his contract in September 2018. And nearly one year later, he re-emerged in the Premier League with Watford.
