If any match report from last week was more than one word and could be printed without a parental advisory sticker, it was over-written. Awful, dire or rubbish; that’s putting the 2-0 reverse up at Cambridge mildly to say the least. To have now given six points to a team struggling towards the bottom of the table doesn’t do much for our mood; ours last Saturday night was as negative as our goal difference now is. Yes! A minus three mood!
Stevenage v Crawley Town: The Lowdown
And now we’re back indoors for the second time in 2019; time to show the world what we’re made of. Or that would be the hope, anyway. Making their way to the Lamex this weekend are Crawley Town, minus the gaffer who led them to defeat in our return fixture earlier this term; Harry Kewell thinking Notts County was a good career move. This Crawley side, then, perhaps a different prospect from more than four months ago?

Crawley are part of a very choice club. They can tear up their membership card into the teeniest, tiniest pieces for all we care. But it won’t change much. Like it or lump it, they make up a quarter of our league scalps on the road this term. Along with three other sides who start with the letter C. What are the odds? We’ve won four of our nine Football League duels since 2013; two away and two, well, indoors. Not a blindin’ return, is it?
The Referee
Hello Thomas Bramall. This’ll be the first time we’ve met, and we think you’ll find that we’ll be dead nice to you if you do the same to us in return. The South Yorkshire lad is reffing in the League for the first time this season, with 28 games already under his belt. He doesn’t seem to be one for waving his cards about either; 61 yellows means it’s normal for him to book a couple and then go home. Three reds, meanwhile, is par for the course.
The Form
The current League Two form guide tells two different stories. It all depends on how many results you want to take as your sample. Take Crawley, for instance. Their record over the past eight isn’t much to concern us. Well, no more than usual; 10 points from a possible 24 being pretty mediocre. But they have added seven to that 10-point haul from the last three. Ah. And seven points is all we’ve managed in our last eight. AGH!
We can only hope that Crawley are true to a lousy away record that has seen them take just seven points away from home this season; the same amount as both sides in the bottom two. Of all the times they’ve gone into battle on the road, they’ve been on the wrong side three quarters of the time. And it’s now eight away outings without a win for the West Sussexy folk. With a record like that, what could possibly go wrong? Oh, right…
