Marcus Gouldbourne is the young midfielder who burst into first team consideration in October 2018; named as a substitute in Boro’s Checkatrade Trophy tie against Charlton Athletic at the Lamex. The player had already made a name for himself in Boro’s youth team by this point; the latest in a line of players making the step up from our academy.
Gouldbourne got his first taste of senior football in 2019, going on a work experience loan to Dunstable Town. It was part of the player’s two-year scholarship with us, and – by all accounts – he made his mark. Going into 2019-20, the question was whether the young midfielder could start edging closer to our first team. But, in fact, the answer was no as Gouldbourne made the move to Sweden; joining Ytterhogdals IK that summer.
